Are you are too young or too old?

Do you ever feel like you're always looking for the perfect time to do what you're called to do? Yet while you're looking for this "perfect time" you feel completely inadequate and under qualified to start doing anything of significance. For most people this is a constant reality. The excuses start to roll around in our minds. We reason with ourselves and justify why we are not doing what we feel we need to do.  In the midst of our excuses we miss the opportunities that are right in front of us. We'll always feel either too young or too old, there will always be a reason not to do what you feel God calling us to do. It’s my hope through this blog to encourage all of us to make the most of the time we have now.

When will the perfect time come?

I’m afraid that majority of us live in a fantasy world waiting for the perfect time. We live constantly thinking about tomorrow and the future but we don't enjoy the now. This is a constant battle of the mind I personally go through. I often feel like I haven't achieved enough, lived long enough or got enough money to have influence now. We live in a world that says you need to have it all together before you can make a difference which is far from the truth. If we keep looking for the perfect time we will miss the opportunities that are right in front of us.

There are seasons to life and we must embrace the season we are in right now. Stop postponing what you feel God calling you to do and take a step of faith. On the flip side, you may be older and looking back at your "glory days", however it's never too late to take that step of faith you've always dreamed of. You have a lot to offer no matter how young or old you are. Now is the perfect time to make a difference in the world around you.

Are we playing the “when I ___ then I’ll ___” game?

The when I ______ then I’ll _____ game is something we often do.

For example:

When I have my degree then I will have purpose.
When I have lots of money then I will be generous.
When I am married then I will be able to have influence.
When I build a business then I will be able to speak into peoples lives.
When I am older then I will help people.

Let’s live for the now! Stop delaying what we know we need to do. A bit of perspective changes everything. Look at how a new perspective changed the game below:

While I’m studying I have purpose all around me.
While I may not have lots of money I will be generous with what I have.
While I am single I will grow personally and help people around me.
While I build a business I can still be a voice in my generation.
While I am young I will use my youth to help the people in my life.

God’s not looking for perfect people but available people.

All throughout the bible we see God using people who may not of had it all together but were ready and available to be used. These people were prepared to be different, wanted God to use them and continued to look to Him for help.

What would the word like if a whole lot of available people said, "God use me" and stopped waiting for the "perfect time" and got going. How quickly would poverty be erased. High schools wouldn't be the same as teenagers started to stand up for what they believed in. Family environments would be different. Universities would be filled with purpose. The potential is endless.

Let's stop waiting for this imaginary perfect time that we've made up in our mind and make the most of the time we have now.

So remember the perfect time will never arrive. All we have is now so let's make the most of it.
